Parametric design: from concept to construction

Parametric tools are excellent at exploring options and terrible at keeping secrets from the builder. On our Copenhagen Culture House we ran every façade panel through a script, then printed a full-scale mock-up on the studio floor. The script told us the geometry was possible; the mock-up told us the geometry was heavy. Both answers mattered. Good parametric work is honest about the moment the computer has to hand the drawing to a human.
