Sustainable architecture in the Nordic climate
by Erik Lindström•2025-11-12•6 min read
Designing for the Nordic climate is an exercise in honesty. Walls have to carry snow, daylight has to be invited in, and every junction has to last decades of freeze and thaw. In our studio we start with the roof and work down — because in Sweden, the roof is the building. From there we choose materials that can age without maintenance: tarred pine, reclaimed brick, solid timber floors. Energy is the final layer, not the first one.
